This is how to take care of your toothbrush

Posted on 1/24/2022 by Parkway Dentistry at Langtree
This is how to take care of your toothbrushThe toothbrush is one material that you use while brushing your teeth. A toothbrush should be taken care of to ensure that you do not get cavities and diseases from what is supposed to protect you. The dentist will guide you on care tips.

Dry your toothbrush

Bacteria are likely to be on a toothbrush that has been in your mouth. When you combine that with moist bristles, you've got a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. Make it a point to dry your toothbrush on a towel before leaving it out in the open to dry completely. This minimizes the number of bacteria that grows between the bristles on the brush head, preventing the growth of mold or mildew that can make you sick.

Replace it often

Remember the last time you replaced your toothbrush? Do you go to the dentist and get a new one every six months? Many have taken on this habit. If you don't visit the dentist on a regular basis, then you could even longer without replacing your toothbrush. The bristles will bend and wear out after regular use. It will also collect bacteria that may grow on your toothbrush head over time. It is recommended that you replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months for maximum results.

Don't share

When living together, couples will occasionally share a toothbrush. In some cases, such as siblings who can't remember whose toothbrush is whose, someone may accidentally use someone else's toothbrush owing to a bathroom mix-up. The issue with sharing toothbrushes is that various people's mouths have different bacteria populations. While a healthy level of germs is good, combining bacteria from your mouth with bacteria from someone else's mouth could be hazardous. If someone s gum is bleeding, this can pass bloodstream diseases. Some viruses like colds, flu and Covid 19 can be passed through sharing of toothbrush
